Houses of Residence

There are currently eight houses of residence:

Bawumia House

Bawumia House is the eighth house of the school. It was established in 2021 to commemorate the Platinum Jubilee of the School. This house was named Bawumia House in honour of Alhaji Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the Vice-President of the Republic of Ghana, who completed TAMASCO in 1980 for his continuous contribution to the development of the school. Ash is the ceremonial colour of the house.

Gbadamosi House

This is the seventh house of residence for students. It was established in 2010 and named Gbadamosi House, in honour of Alhaji Rahim Gbadamosi, one of the pioneer students of the school who became the first senior prefect and later in life served as Headmaster of the school, Nothern Regional Director of Education and ultimately Director General of the Ghana Education Service. The ceremonial colour of the House is orange.

Gbewaa House

House 6, which hitherto unofficially assumed the name Andora was established in September, 1976. To ease congestion, some students in the various dormitories were moved to Andora House which was lateter named Gbewaa House in honour of Naa Gbewaa, the founder of the Mole Dagbani States. White is the ceremonial colour of the House.

Hayfron House

House 5, established in September, 1976, has mauve as its colour. The house was named after Mr. I.E. Hayfron, who deserves to be celebrated as the foundation stone or truly pioneer teacher. He competently taught all the non-science academic subjects on the timetable.

Nkrumah House

House 4, the Yellow House, was initially called Lincoln House in honour of Abraham Lincoln, the 16th President of the USA. In the 1972/73 academic year, the house assumed its current name, Nkrumah House, in honour of Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, the first Prime Minister and first President of Ghana.

Pattinson House

House 2 which is the Green House is named after J. Gordon Pattinson, an Englishman who was the first substantive Headmaster. The house, until the 1972/73 academic year, was called Livingstone House, in memory of the famous Scottish explorer, David Livingstone.

Tamakloe House

House 1 – Red House, named after R.L. Tamakloe, a seasoned Gold Coast civil servant who was well versed in the traditions and culture of the people of the North. He helped translate the Bible from English Dagbanli.

Wemah House

House 3, with blue as its colour, was named after Amadu Saamba Wemah. Wemah was part of a group of young men taken by the Gold Coast British Administration to Accra and trained as artisans to come and serve as master trainers.
